A water barrico as carried on on Coastguard rescue carts and rocket carts.

The water barrico was a component part of the breeches buoy rescue equipment. The line was carried over a wrecked ship by a Boxer Rocket, the efflux from which would set fire to the rocket line if no precaution were taken. The first few fathoms of the rocket line were, therefore, immersed in the water barrico to soak it before attaching the line to the rocket.
